Well, those of you who are tired of seeing the big empty space at Florin and Riverside where the Nugget used to be, your wait for a new store is almost over. Pocket Online spoke today with the new owners of the property and talked about their plans to fill the space with a new grocery store.
In Hand Development, Inc. bought half of the corner mall that includes the former Nugget from Balthazar Holdings (which changed it’s name from Inversiones Ramiro S.A. that we tracked down in previous stories) in June and hope to close escrow on the property in October. Clark Wallace with In Hand Development says the company really wants to lease the space to a grocery store that is a good fit with the Pocket area community. “We strongly believe in the Pocket,” explains Wallace, “It’s one of the premier neighborhoods in Sacramento. It’s stable and affluent and we hope to put a grocer in there.”
Wallace says his company has hired Terranomics Retail Specialists to find a grocer to occupy the anchor store for the mall at Florin and Riverside. Bob Wong of Terranomics won’t divulge yet who he’s going to approach to fill the space, except to say, “a tenant that will enhance the property.” Which is a good thing because the right anchor store will attract good business to the rest of the shopping center.

I'm with the others – a Trader Joe's would be very appropriate for the area and I know most of the neighbors would love it!!!

I'd be thrilled with Trader Joes!
I would love to see a Trader Joes!
Too bad they couldn't lure Corti Brothers over this direction…
